... continued from previous page.

Contributions to wildlife & sporting volumes have been considerable, solely illustrating 15 titles including Henry Williamson's classic "Salar the Salmon" pub. Webb & Bower 1987. Exhibitions have been similarly numerous with two, one man shows at the Malcolm Innes Gallery, London. Contributor, Society of Wildlife Artists, The Mall Galleries, London. Inaugural Show, "A Vision of Fishes", Plymouth Marine Aquarium and some overseas. Mick is a familiar face at various country shows.

Loates originals have become highly collectable over the years selling to buyers from Australia, New Zealand, the Americas, South Africa and Europe. Despite any accolades the Artist modestly admits to rarely being satisfied with any completed work, the final result always falling short of the preconceived vision.

Mick is a passionate traveller with journeys to remote areas of Europe, the Ukraine, North Africa, California, the mid-Pacific Islands, New Zealand and the Nepalese Himalayas. Other interests include angling, sea swimming, walking & playing blues guitar.

Despite a brain haemorrhage a decade ago his determination and philosophy remain unchanged "What you produce today must be superior to yesterday. It doesn't always work like that of course but it does go some way to setting a standard."
